Ginny Belden-Charles

Ginny Belden-CharlesGinny Belden-Charles is a master facilitator and educator focused on strategic change. Her consulting work includes large and small business, non-profit, educational, government and community organizations. Prior to co-founding Waterline Consulting in 1991, she managed all facets of Human Resources in chemical, financial and energy industries.

In 2003 Ginny joined Pepperdine University’s Graziadio School of Business masters program in organization development (MSOD) as adjunct faculty, where she completed her master's degree as a Bush Fellow in 1991. She is currently a PhD student through the Taos Institute and Tilburg University in the Netherlands. Ginny is a mentor trainer for the Institute of Cultural Affairs (ICA), and was a founding member of the MN Facilitator Network.

Her toolkit includes several powerful programs for developing leadership effectiveness, including The Facilitative Leader program developed by Interaction Associates, GE’s Change Acceptance Program, the Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI), Power + Systems Organization Workshop and the FIRO-B Team Assessment.

Prior to co-founding Waterline Consulting in 1991, she held leadership development positions at Sperry Univac, and was the director of employee development, organization development, and staffing at Diversified Energies Inc. She also served on the faculty in the University of Minnesota Extension Service.

In 1995, she received the Minnesota Organization Development Practitioner of the Year award. Marcia has a master's degree in adult education from the University of Minnesota. She is a certified ICA facilitator and a senior associate with Power + Systems Inc.

Marcia also manages the Last Chance Gallery in Lutsen and a personal retreat center.
 

 


 

Marcia and Ginny are the co-creators of the Waterline Coaching method, used by thousands of line managers for innovative, inquiry-based coaching. In 2006, Waterline was awarded the national "2006 ToP Champion Award" by the Institute of Cultural Affairs (ICA) for "modeling and embedding the culture and values of facilitative leadership...to help leaders, teams and organizations develop insight and increase innovation."

In 1998, they co-founded the Center for Emerging Leadership and its Women's Leadership Community (WLC), an intentional learning community that supports women in bringing their whole selves into the world.

Their published writing includes a chapter on Action Learning for "The Revised Change Handbook" published by Berrett Koehler in 2006 and the book, Towards the Learning Organization: A Guide, used in organization development graduate school curricula at Case Western and Royal Roads University.  They currently write a regular column for Minnesota Women's Press entitled Emerging Voices.
